Do you long for celebration and culture to counterbalance the intensity of studying? Varsinaissuomalainen osakunta (VSO) offers diverse activities ranging from sports to academic feasts, from concerts to wine evenings, and from raves to bowling championships.

We are a student nation with approximately 100 members and an interdisciplinary community of students from universities of the Helsinki metropolitan area. Most of us have roots in Southwest Finland but we welcome everyone who is interested in our activities around the year – regardless of the stage of your studies!

Every Wednesday at 7pm, we gather for a student nation evening to hear from engaging guest speakers, enjoy scrumptious food, and just to hang out with friends.

Finding your way to VSO

VSO is located in New Student House. The address of the building is Mannerheimintie 5 A, 6. floor.

Who can join?

All university students from the Helsinki metropolitan area can join VSO. The majority of our members are students of the University of Helsinki but many students from Aalto University, for example, have found their way to VSO as well. Our activities are organised mostly in Finnish, but international members are always welcomed warmly and we are more than happy to accommodate those who prefer communicating in English.
